Minnesota Traffic Laws

Minnesota has multiple traffic laws to remain aware of when on the road. There is the Ted Foss Move-Over Law, named in honor of a State Patrol trooper killed on a highway shoulder. The law mandates that on roads with two or more lanes, drivers must move a lane over if there is a stopped emergency vehicle with flashing lights activated. If the driver cannot move a lane over, they must reduce their speed instead. Minnesota law also regulates the use of seatbelts and motorcycles. Special restrictions exist for teen drivers, including a prohibition on nighttime driving for novices, plus a complete ban on underage drinking and driving.
